Your Mama Money Card works in two easy ways. Please note that swiping is not currently available, so if a till point only supports swiping, you will not be able to use your card there.
- Tap: Use on any card machine that shows the contactless symbol.
- Insert: Use on any card machine or ATM—simply insert your card and enter your PIN.
Troubleshooting Tapping Issues
If the machine is not recognising your card when you tap:
- Look for the contactless symbol on the machine.
- Hold your card closer and still for a few seconds.
- Remove your card from any wallet or cover.
- Try inserting the card instead.
- If it still fails, try a different till point or store.
Troubleshooting Insertion Issues
If the machine is not recognizing your card when you insert it:
- Insert the card chip-side first (the gold square must go in first).
- Gently clean the chip with a soft, dry cloth.
- Insert the card slowly and firmly.
- Try a different ATM or till point.
- Check that your card is not damaged, bent, or scratched.
What if my transaction is declined?
If your card is declined, please check the following:
- Balance: Ensure you have enough funds to cover the transaction amount plus any fees.
- PIN: Double-check that you entered the correct PIN.
- Activation: Log in to the Mama Money app to ensure your card is activated.
- Locked Status: Check the app to see if your card is locked.
- Reset PIN: If you have forgotten your PIN, you can reset it via the Mama Money app.
Tip: If a store's card machine is not accepting your card, always try tapping first, then inserting. If neither works, check that you have enough balance and that your card is not damaged before contacting support.
