Have you registered with Mama Money but received a message saying you are not eligible for the banking product? Here is what this means and what you can do.
When you register with Mama Money, your details are reviewed to check whether you qualify for our banking product. Sometimes, you may be successfully registered for remittance or wallet services but may not yet qualify for banking specifically.
To be eligible for the Mama Money banking product, you will generally need one of the following valid documents:
- A valid South African ID
- A valid foreign passport
- A valid Asylum / Refugee document
If you do not currently have one of these documents, or if your document has expired, this may affect your eligibility. - In most cases, updating your document is the key step needed to change your eligibility status.
- Send a clear photo of your passport or a PDF of your asylum document, along with your Mama Money-registered phone number, to WhatsApp +27 64 802 8428.
- Once your updated document has been reviewed, your eligibility status may change, allowing you to access banking and order your MMC
