When you make an EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) payment to Mama Money, you are required to use your Mama Money-registered phone number as the payment reference. This is how our system identifies that the payment belongs to your account.
Using the wrong reference means our system cannot automatically match your payment to your account — but do not panic, our team can assist you manually.
What We Need From You
To help locate your payment and resolve the issue as quickly as possible, please have the following ready when you contact us:
- Your Mama Money registered phone number — this is the number linked to your Mama Money account
- The reason for using an incorrect reference — for example, did you miss a digit, use an old number, or enter a name? This helps our team understand what happened and locate your payment faster
- Proof of payment in PDF format — this is the payment confirmation from your bank showing:
- The amount paid
- The date and time of the payment
- The incorrect reference used
The bank account it was paid into

From your banking app:
- Log in to your banking app
- Go to your transaction history
- Find the EFT payment made to Mama Money
- Look for the option to download or share the proof of payment
Make sure to save or download it as a PDF file
From internet banking:
- Log in to your internet banking on your phone or computer
- Go to your transaction history
- Find the EFT payment and select download proof of payment
- Save it as a PDF
- Not sure how? Contact your bank directly and ask them to help you get your proof of payment as a PDF.
