Why Am I Not Receiving SMS Messages From Mama Money?
There are a few common reasons why you may not be receiving SMS messages from Mama Money. In most cases, this can be resolved quickly by following the troubleshooting steps below. Please work through all the steps before contacting our support team.
Step 1 — Reset Your PIN on the Mama Money USSD First
Before following any of the steps below, please first reset your PIN on the Mama Money USSD:
- Dial *134*542# on your phone
- Follow the prompts to reset your PIN
- Once your PIN has been reset, continue with the troubleshooting steps below
Troubleshooting Steps
Please follow all of the steps below carefully before contacting our support team:
Step 1 — Check if your SMS inbox is full:
- Go to your SMS inbox on your phone
- If your inbox is full, you will not be able to receive new messages
- Delete some old messages to free up space and try again
Step 2 — Check if you can receive SMS messages from other companies:
- Try to confirm whether you are receiving SMS messages from other companies (such as your bank or other services)
- If you are not receiving any SMS messages at all, the issue may be with your network provider and not specifically with Mama Money
- Contact your network provider directly if you are not receiving any SMS messages from anyone
Step 3 — Check if you have blocked the Mama Money SMS number:
Mama Money sends SMS messages from specific numbers depending on your network provider. Please check that you have not blocked the following numbers:

Step 4 — Check your Spam and Blocked messages:
- Open your SMS inbox on your phone
- Tap the 3 lines (menu icon) on the left side of your screen
- Tap on "Spam and Blocked"
- Look for the Mama Money SMS number that matches your network provider (see the table above)
- If you find it there — tap on it and select "Not Spam"
- This will unblock the number and allow Mama Money SMS messages to come through again
Step 5 — Reset your PIN on the Mama Money USSD:
- Once you have completed the steps above, dial *134*542# on your phone
- Follow the prompts to reset your PIN
- This will trigger a new SMS to be sent to your phone, confirming whether the issue has been resolved
